Blakely Harbor – Country Club

Blakely Harbor and County Club are the southeast tip of the island and offer exclusive privacy.

THE SETTING AND LIFESTYLE

Blakely Harbor is now one of the quietest spots on Bainbridge Island, but that indeed wasn't the case in the late 19th Century. In 1864, Captain Renton established what would become the largest producing lumber mill in the world at its height, turning out a half million board feet of lumber a day. This venture would end up drawing a shipbuilding company to the harbor, which in turn, brought immigrants from Asia and Europe. After 58 years in existence, the collapse of these companies let the harbor turn to what it is today - serenity.

The terrain feature that is Restoration Point (Country Club) on Bainbridge Island is one of the best of its kind as far as geologists around the world are concerned. The uplifted terrace is a flat wave-eroded area that popped 25' out of the water in a heartbeat in a huge earthquake a very long time ago. Once a bed of soil and beach grasses, this shoreline became a perfect place for a golf club. This historic course was established in 1896 by the Country Club of Seattle, and the community's caretakers maintain it to this day.

This area is the island is as exclusive as it gets, starting with the street name, Country Club Drive. There are very few home sales in this stretch, in part because so many homes stay in a family for generations and never see the open market. Some homes here, inside the actual Country Club, are not allowed to have mortgages and buyers have to be socially approved by members of the club.

BEACH ACCESS blakely harbor county club

Almost every home here sits on no bank waterfront. This has given architects opportunity to design homes where the lifestyle inside can include the feeling of the beach and water being drawn into the home. And this certainly makes it easy for residents to stroll directly from their home’s steps down to the beach to soak in the setting and relax.

PRICE TRENDS

In 2023, there were just three residential sales in Blakely Harbor and Country Club. The average sale price of a home was $3,675,000 (ranging from $3,300,000 to $6,150,000). Other averages: price per square foot, $1,187; sale to list price ratio, 93.8 %; days on market, 41.
